Cereal and Fruits

I've been extra busy so I haven't been able to post much and experiment much on food lately.

This is just a quick post and view on what one can come up with for breakfast. Since May of last year, I have decided to not skip breakfast and make it my main meal of the day. This was primarily because I read somewhere that eating breakfast will jumpstart one's metabolism and help you avoid gaining weight fast. I think it's quite effective because I was able to lose weight after a few months and am now maintaining a healthy weight according to my BMI.

Anyway, I haven't really kept that promise because when I wake up late (which is 30% of the time), I would settle for water or a piece of bread. Then, I discovered that our local mall sells pre-cut fruits. To make the long story short, this is what I came up with - a quick and healthy breakfast.

What I used:
-Corn flakes cereal
-Pre-cut fruits (pear, watermelon & grapes) that I bought in a local supermarket
-Instant milk and cereal

What I did:
I just mixed them all up. Lol!

Japanese Cake

I'm not a big fan of street food because I have a somehow sensitive stomach. I would occasionally end up having an upset tummy but thankfully I didn't have one when I tried this.

I was in desperate need for a cool place to stay in because the library was closed on that day so I went out of our school and explored around the area. I passed by this stall while I was looking for a place to kill time and study for my Business Statistics homework, Summation Notations. I actually got curious because of the word 'Japanese'. I'm a big fan of their culture so that was partly the reason why I risked trying this one.

The seller cooks it on hot cup-like molds and I think they're sort of frying it and would use sticks to turn them over. They sold it for only Five (5) Pesos each which was reasonable enough, I think. I only bought one because I do not want to risk having a bad tummy in a school day.

Good thing I was able to stop myself from biting into it immediately and so here's a photo of it. The outer part was the part that I enjoyed because of its crispy texture. The whole thing tasted like pancake. I didn't actually eat it on its own but I dropped by the nearest McDonalds and bought a hot fudge sundae. I placed it on the sundae and waited by doing some problem sets first until the cake absorbs the sundae.

It was a really good afternoon and I can say it really made my day.

Bavaria Restaurant Iloilo City

I'm blessed to have people around me who love food and who love to check out food from various cultures. One of the restaurants that I love going to is Bavaria in Iloilo City. It's located at the ground floor of Nagarao Pension House in Jaro, Iloilo City.

Bavaria serves German cuisine and the ambiance of their place gives you that rustic feel. The dishes that I really enjoy from their menu are their homemade German bread. The bread really complements the various dishes that they serve in their restaurant. The usual things that we order are their pasta and their sausage platter. They serve really delicious sausages. If you are a big fan of beer, they also have a wide selection of local and international beers. They even serve Weizenbier which is, according to them, a yeasty wheat bear from Germany.

The place is really very conducive for laid back moments and productive conversation with friends, families, or loved ones. I know it would've been better if I have remembered to take more photos of the place so I'm sorry I didn't take much photo of the place. I can probably update this entry the next time I go there.
