Bavaria Restaurant Iloilo City

I'm blessed to have people around me who love food and who love to check out food from various cultures. One of the restaurants that I love going to is Bavaria in Iloilo City. It's located at the ground floor of Nagarao Pension House in Jaro, Iloilo City.

Bavaria serves German cuisine and the ambiance of their place gives you that rustic feel. The dishes that I really enjoy from their menu are their homemade German bread. The bread really complements the various dishes that they serve in their restaurant. The usual things that we order are their pasta and their sausage platter. They serve really delicious sausages. If you are a big fan of beer, they also have a wide selection of local and international beers. They even serve Weizenbier which is, according to them, a yeasty wheat bear from Germany.

The place is really very conducive for laid back moments and productive conversation with friends, families, or loved ones. I know it would've been better if I have remembered to take more photos of the place so I'm sorry I didn't take much photo of the place. I can probably update this entry the next time I go there.

Coconut Lime Squares

Now these are not things that I made myself but as you can see it's from a local restaurant and bakeshop chain here in Iloilo City. I love light flavored pastries and desserts so I prefer them most of the time than chocolate or other rich-flavored ones. I came across this delicious dessert when I had this craving for something sweet. Since their shop is just a few minutes away from my workplace, I decided to check out their desserts. I have decided to buy Buko Royale, which is also one of my favorites, but I got curious with this one.
Another reason why I chose this is that citrus-based food are my favorite. Also, trying out new food is one of the things that I enjoy doing. In addition to these reasons, they sell these cheap so of course I'd prefer this one. (lol!) I was supposed to take a picture showing the layers but I couldn't resist biting into one so pardon the bitten piece. I gobbled it up quickly but good thing I remembered that I should take one more photo to show the layers.
Anyway, I love that this dessert really tasted of coconut and lime. I could really taste that sweet, creamy, and tangy combination in every bite. The dessert, I think, is composed of three layers, the 'crust' which probably contains butter, the soft and moist lime flavored cake, and the sprinkle of desiccated coconut flakes or powder on top. I hope you enjoyed reading this post as much as I had writing this.

Comma Cafe's Belgian Waffles

I had a great experience at this cafe with my friend who I was doing 121 with at the time. She actually introduced me to this place and she ended up being shocked after seeing how much I can eat. We have a term for this among my circle of friends. It's called PBBL which stands for Pusong Babae, Bitukang Lalake which translates to someone with a woman's heart but with a man's capacity to eat (no offense to guys out there).

Comma Cafe became popular for their bestselling Belgian waffles and the Korean inspired interior and ambiance. So if you're a big fan of K-pop music and anything Korean, I can highly recommend this place for you. I really had a blast trying out their Belgian waffles and I was actually shocked at how big it was compared to what I've tried from other shops. I like the texture and creaminess of their waffles. I will be going there again when I have the time to try out other flavors.

I was actually privileged to talk to one of the owners who told me about the shop's beginnings and continuously improving menu. They were really accommodating and friendly. The utensils they used, the wallpaper, and the table numbers were a real eye candy for me. They were so pretty and cute that I actually wished I could take them home. But of course, that would be considered theft (lol!). Aside from the Belgian waffle, I ordered a blueberry latte and Korean spicy Ramyun with egg. They also give out free tea to customers so that was a plus for me, too!

Their pricing was quite reasonable for me but it might not be that affordable for some students. It's a great place to hang out with friends. By the way, their shop is located just in front of JBLFMU here in Iloilo City.
